Personal statement:
I believe that there is so much that can be done to improve the lives of the Hawaiian people. I have spent several years learning about what is being done for our people and I have watched what the Native Americans have received and done for their people, and I feel that the Hawaiians can have the same: Education, Medical Care, Dental Care, help our homeless, and having rehabilitation centers. There is so much that can be done and I know that I can help make a difference that is in the best interest of our people. Even though I live on the mainland does not mean that I do not know what is going on in Hawaii. I have made it my priority to inform my Ohana of the many things that will help our people to progress forward. Culture is important to me and I have educated my granddaughters of the importance of knowing their Hawaiian Heritage. I know I will do a great job in supporting in moving our people forward into a better future.
