Personal statement:
Aloha Mai, Distinguished Board of Directors of Na’i Aupuni My name is Diana Joy Leialohalani Suganuma, I was born and raised in Papakole’a, O’ahu. My professional background is in outreach, caring, healing and assisting those in need. As far as I know there is no Ali’i in my blood. I come from a bloodline that exhibited strength, endurance, skill, integrity and loyalty to a high chief who would later become King. King Kamehameha’s warrior Kekuhaupio. In the recent past I was involved and worked under contract to provide services to engage Native Hawaiians (NH) to register and participate in a democratic voting process for a new Hawaiian Governing Entity. Kana’iolowalu, was the reawakening and a new beginning of hope for the right to govern and control our homeland and resources. I make no promises, only that I will work hard and listen to our people and to their needs and desires for a Hawaiian Government. I humbly request and pray that I am able to continue to work and strive to establish a new Hawaiian Governing Entity and make it a reality.
